ANCESTORS VOICES: MUSIC AND LEARNING FOR NATIONAL DAY OF TRUTH & RECONCILIATION
In September 2024, we launched our new Indigenous music education program, Ancestors Voices. This program was created to honour Indigenous voices and Knowledge Keepers through music and storytelling and to deliver accessible, high-quality learning materials to classrooms. Through music and learning, we will inspire the next generation with messages of healing, hope, and unity.
In September, we will announce our new Ancestors Voices featured artist.
Past Ancestors Voices artists include Adrian Sutherland (2025), a First Nations artist from Attawapiskat, Ontario. We are featuring his all-Cree language song Kiyash (Before) from his album Precious Diamonds. Our 2024 featured artist was Julian Taylor, sharing his song S.E.E.D.S.
When you register, you get access to the full library of resources.

THE TUNE-UP: STUDENT SONGWRITING CONTEST
Music gives young people a powerful way to express themselves, build confidence, connect with others, and support their mental well-being. The Tune-Up turns that power into opportunity—encouraging youth to explore their creativity, share their stories, and discover their voices as songwriters.
Now in its third year, The Tune-Up is more than a songwriting contest. In partnership with SoundsUnite, Metalworks Studios, and Metalworks Institute, the program recognizes and celebrates young songwriters while giving them meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and experience the music industry. Selected participants can take part in recording, mentorship, workshops, and other hands-on learning experiences designed to help them develop their creative and musical skills.
The Tune-Up 2026 will open in November 2026.
