MUSIC MONDAY 2025 IS MONDAY, MAY 5th
Music Monday is a celebration of the impact of music education, and music engagement, in our schools and in our communities.
Registration is free and will give you access to all the resources you need to teach the Song of Celebration to your class or community group. There are numerous audio and video recordings, arrangements, lyric sheets, sing-a-long video and a Learning Guide.
All registered participants will also receive access to numerous online music education sessions that will be released on Music Monday and will be available on demand. And remember, you do not have to use our song of celebration. You can participate in Music Monday with any music or musical event of your choice.
Registration for 2025 will open in the Fall 2024. Be sure to sign up for our enewsletter for all the details.
NEXTGEN ADVISORY COUNCIL
Created in fall 2022, our NextGen Advisory Council is a critical voice in decision-making, advocacy and policy development. Their work will emphasize equity and inclusion. The Council will encourage our Youth4Music programs and participants to reflect on their role in ensuring access to music education and engagement in our schools and in our communities.
Our National Study Report
Everything is Connected
A Landscape of Music Education
Our National Study Report is now available!
Initiated prior to the pandemic in 2019, the study was designed to reflect the ongoing status within provincial education systems. The report is being hailed as a significant expert resource for those who develop educational policy and rebuild consistent and valued music programming into core curriculum.
Advocating for inclusion, diversity, equity and access, as well as the richness and cultural significance of music education in Canada, the hope is that this report serves as a pathway to future policy development and a focus on the implementation of ‘policy to practice’ within classrooms across the country.
SUPPORT MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES
If you care about keeping music programs strong in schools, join us and become part of the national voice for music education. Whether you’re a student, teacher or parent, or you represent an association or institution, our programs and resources are here to help you ensure that school music programs in your community are as strong as possible.
ADVOCACY IN ACTION
In late 2020, the Coalition for Music Education in Canada (CMEC) struck a dedicated committee that set out to review its long-standing history as a national advocacy organization. From this work we, devised, created and launched a new advocacy strategy in 2021, one rooted in evidence-based research that takes the best of music advocacy and will see us continue to champion music education in schools across this country.
