Music lives in all different shapes and forms in the lives of nearly every Canadian. We want to introduce how music lives in the lives of our Coalition Team and Board. This month, we’re beginning with Program Coordinator, Ashley Boychuk, and Board member, Don Quarles.

Ashley Boychuk, Program Coordinator

“I have always found it fascinating that music is the first thing which brings people together at the onset of tragedy and joy, since it has the ability to unite us all, through a common language and feeling. Music is intrinsic, everyday, throughout the entire world.

As a classically trained musician, I have initially helped to bridge the gap for those unfamiliar with opera or art song, however no matter what language I’m singing in, the essence of the story is revealed so clearly through a musical dialogue, of which is already connected to the audience’s inner beings.”

Don Quarles, Board Member

“Music is all around us…affects us in everyday life. Whether it is the tune that wakes us up in the morning, the song we hum through the day,  Music is the soundtrack of our experiences and helps plant memories in our mind.

I enjoy connecting young people with music and music creation through songwriting workshops, music in school initiatives. It is my passion and my biggest joy.

Music education doesn’t just create creators, it helps create music appreciators!”
