From now until November 30, 2018, the Government of Canada will be accepting applications to form a new Prime Minister’s Youth Council of Spring 2019. Applicants need to be in between the ages of 16 and 24. Canadian Francophone youth with a college background to apply are encouraged to apply, but of course, any and all youth can apply for a position. Up to 30 applicants will be accepted.
The PMYC is a board of youth who provide non-partisan advice to the Prime Minister of Canada. The program was formed in 2016 by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,as a way to give the youth of Canada the opportunity to voice their opinions on a variety of different subjects and issues concerning Canada, such as the environment, health, and employment.
By voicing the concerns and views of peers and youth from each their own communities, this collective group of individuals represents the youth of our nation. The council holds multiple meetings in a year, online and in person, where these opinions are shared and heard. Every member has unique skills, beliefs and priorities to bring to the table, thus making several views on issues closely examined and discussed.
Many alumni from the past PMYC, are now currently pursuing further education, making positive changes in their communities, role modeling for youth across the country and achieving their dreams.
